Black Insomia Poem by Chester Maynes

Black Insomia

Bad day
Headache rules my intellect
Forgotten laundry stuck in the vicinity of my kitchen
What is the noise
Of those rats in the cheap ceiling
I do not have cheese for a trap

Oh those antics of many juveniles
I heard some delinquency in the square
They abused a curfew hour and sniffed marijuana’s
A secret lair of those kids
They hide but no one is looking
Their revelry is a devil’s laugh

I sat without slumber
My cola tasted like rust
How many reports will be printed
On dailies worth a dollar each
This wicked hour
Sleep is not a chum
