Black Hearts Poem by Carrie Sprouse

Black Hearts

Black hearts
Are better then red
They bring out emptyness
And coldest dread

Pain and heartbreak
Black roses replace
Tears run slowly
Down your decieving face

Fatal death
Waits among the dark trees
Horror and decease
Will bring you to your knees

Streaming blood
Running form your skin
Cracks your bones
The air grows thin

One last blow
And it crushed your skull
Your heartbeat begins to stop
And your skin begins to dull

I am reading your poems after reading Ahmad Shiddiqi’s poem, “Voyage”. Good use of color to express your thoughts and feelings. Nice contrast between black and red. Your rhymes always fit in nicely not distracting from the reading. The message is blunt, strong and clear.
