Bitter Acceptance Poem by June Steele

Bitter Acceptance

If you haven’t noticed by now, Then you’ll never do
You made me doubt all my dreams, Now I have no clue
Whether I want you, whether I don’t
Saying it won’t matter and I wont
You were my hope for a lifelong dream
Now I have fresh starts or so they seem
I prayed you be the one
But that not something you can become
Either you are, or you are not
I made a decision after thinking lot
The thoughts of you shall be set free
And the mystery continues of who he will be
Dancing between the stars Or lying further down
Either way he seems out of reach
Leaving me for more scars Or a risk to drown
Life still offers more to teach
But am tired and I don’t believe as I used to
And am afraid when you do come I won’t accept you
Am getting used to living alone Trying to find a substitute home
Other than your arms to where am never drawn
Other than your eyes that are never shown
Hiding beneath my hopes you have become
a Distant memory of with whom i thought I can share some
my dreams are now vague and so lonely
where life is taking me and me only
To different places and different faces
for easier hopes and mazes
and all I can do is accept……
