Birthday Candle Poem by Leaking Pen

Birthday Candle

"One-year anniversary poem
My Birthday candle"

One candle I claim
Twelve flames I stitch
One for each month
With this poem I frame.

How lovely to dwell
In the breath of life
And hope ringing
My morning bell.

One year in the making
Verses in poetry
Like the first thanksgiving
Where life is glowing.

These verses yielding
Truth in meaning
Their doors open wide
To my spirit seeking.

With gratitude and delight
I celebrate my
One-year anniversary
On this poetry website

In reality I never thought
My poems will blossom
When I began my poetic journey
But they did, I'm happy to know.

Few fell by the wayside
Others stood on solid rocks
Some found rich soil
Affirming my faith within.

These feeder rains
Love and acknowledgements
Awaken my dormant spirit
Nourishing my poetic grains.

Not everything I wrote
Had flair or panache
The few ones that did shine
Made my heart float.

Happiest are the days
When I found my poetic voice
And discovered its pulse
To God be all glory and praise.

If I may with you celebrate
July 24th 2011
Launch of my footprint and
Birth date of my nameplate.

I have chosen a ghost name
"Leaking Pen" in boldface
Its inks fed my first poem,
"Poet's Anger" my road to fame.

Surprise! Surprise!
This first poem of mine
Turned out to be the one
Boosting my stock rise

Writer's block beneath my thought
Will never deter my journey
In finding my perfect poem,
And rescue my pen from any distraught.

My hands clap in the open
An invitation to celebrate
Inside poetry's welcoming tent
A feast for this poetic Bedouin.

I don't feel quite right
To boast about my poetic light
I do envy each creative write
From poets on this web site.

And for active seeing eyes
I thank you for your comments
I thank you for your time
I value your critique and praise.

And for the silent eyes
Who read my poems
Your loyal following
Is a blessing in disguise.

My gift to you a masterpiece
To acknowledge my thanks
But a poetic soul's creativity
No one can force its release!

Happy birthday to all poets
Where the human heart dwells
I am but one-heart beat
Forming the body of our chorus.

Happy birthday leaking Pen
