Birth Poem by Alejandro Torres

Birth

Born of foam
On the corner of my deserted island
Like the Patron that governs this heart
Caged behind an inescapable desire
For what many have sought after
From great Sappho
To modern day followers
Upon the sight of you
Even a blind man could create
A great legend
Concerning how you came to be
But in simple truths
I always wondered
If the Gods all crafted you
From Aphrodite’s bosom
With Athena’s knowledge
And Artemis’s speed
When I laid eyes on you
I knew the Muses birthed you
On a remote corner
Of my heart
How else would I explain
Why it is only you
I love
