Birth Of Mount Kailash Poem by Samanyan Lakshminarayanan

Birth Of Mount Kailash

Rating: 5.0

a mount....
from a woman's breast
the jeevatma's love
for the parmatma
a penance and meditation
with dedication

the story goes thus....

one day...
PARVATHI DEVI had a swim
in the MANOSAROVAR lake
the purest
the oldest
and the most sacred lake of all

after the swim
she lost herself in the beauty
of that place
the lake was like a pearl in sun's ring
the evening sun through the mountains
was a feast to the eye

to warm herself
after the swim...she decided
to sun bathe lying on the sand
eyes closed and lost in silence
she was seen from far..by a
staggering intoxicated SIVA PERUMAN

the left side breast of hers
seemed to him from far
as the SIVA LINGA
'ah.it is time for me to do SIVA POOJA'...he thought
even as an incarnate of the deity
praying and penance to the lord was his duty

he sat there in penance
with his eyes closed he uttered
the SIVA MANTHRA
the power of the penance was manifold
as the incarnate human SIVA PERUMAN.himself
was doing the penance to the SIVA LINGA

In that powerful penance
that miracle happened
the left breast of PARVATHI DEVI
started growing bigger and bigger
to be known as MOUNT KAILASH...and
which stands sacred and tall...ever after

This mythological rendering is nice! But I would like to add, - Mt Kailash at 22,027 ft is the tallest in Tibet & is the source of 4 longest rivers in Asia, - Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra & the Ganges.KAIASH means 'crystal' in Hindi. The ancient Aryans called it Meru & belived that its peak was the paradissiacal city of INDRA, theirGod of storms! The path to this city was the pathway of the stars, where dead souls stood among trees bossoming flowers, - awaiting re-birth! The Mount was Shiva's linga & the Lake below the yoni of His wife! Thanks for your poem! These are from my personal notes. - RAJ

Some story telling! Please don't indulge in bending Hindu Mythology according to some meaningless hear-says! And where is poetry in you posting SLN?
