Birds Of Prey Poem by Ron Pate

Birds Of Prey

Birds of prey anxiously stare
Filling eve's air with a somber despair
One of the living has fallen to earth
Watching quietly sitting in my chair

Birds of prey bound up in pale blue
Awaiting last breath, know what to do
Swooping down, about to feed
Endopy created, surrounding food

Birds of prey, wings of dismay
Rendering aid to Mother Nature's way
And raptor who shows no discretion
Aiding decomposition without delay

Birds of prey, not one, but two
Ripping, tearing and fighting in lieu
Scattered carrion lingering in their wake Delightedly parting, reverting to pale blue
