Bird 7 - Wonder Who This Ra-Re Birdie Is? Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Bird 7 - Wonder Who This Ra-Re Birdie Is?

Rating: 5.0

Wonderful morning it has been
Watching a Ra-re, unusual bird!
Whimsical warbler she is not - then,
Wonder who could she be?

She caught my attention with her sprightly dance,
Spreading her wings with poise and grace,
Super-duper dance with Ta -Ta beats,
Skipping and jumping with joyous rhythm!

The birdie, suddenly lowered her wings,
Hopped around in a tip toed frenzy,
Then, spotting a bristled grass warbler,
Hurriedly, madly chased her around!

The grass warbler quite intimidated by
The strange behaviour of this unusual bird,
Raised her wings in fright and flew away in a ziffy
Rising high up, only to land on a tall branch of a tree!

The Ra-re bird, now looked like a normal bird,
Almost the shape of a crow or a cuckoo,
The black body painted with orange wings,
Attractively designed forehead with blue patches!

The Ra-re bird had a blue bib!
Never seen a bird with a sky blue bib,
Struck with wonder, I kept pondering and
Never stopped wondering about this Ra-re birdie!

Once more she spread her wings like a fan,
One large black bristled umbrella,
Almost like a mongoose with two shiny iris,
A picture of an awesome creation!

She did not sing like a singing bush Lark,
She did not appear like a yellow browed Bulbul
She was simply bold and bewitching,
Sensational bird! Wonder! Who this Ra-re bird is?

This poem certainly revealed that you have an extremely observant eye! ! ! I have like a dozen different sparrows nesting in my evergreen tree and I would love to find out what species of sparrow they are. I at least recognize the Mourning Dove, the Seagull, the Crow, and the Blackbird, and by its flight the Night Hawk and the Eagle. Oh, and the Hummingbird though not its particular make and model.! I loved your descriptives: sprightly dance, Spreading her wings with poise and grace, Super-duper dance with Ta -Ta beats, Skipping and jumping with joyous rhythm! The birdie, suddenly lowered her wings, Hopped around in a tip toed frenzy, The black body painted with orange wings, Attractively designed forehead with blue patches! The Ra-re bird had a blue bib! Thank you for painting a picture of these birds with your words... I particularly liked the thought of that bird hopping around in a tip toed frenzy, ... Now that's putting us readers right there with you, captivated by this bird. Thank you for sharing this piece with us! ! !

Thank you Susan, for sharing the variety of birds that nestle round your ever green tree. There is nothing more joyful than peeping out of your window at dawn, to see the birds flitting about and singing their sweet melodies. Birds are the most wonderful creations of God. Thank you dear, once again, for keenly reading my little poem on a rare bird. :)

She did not sing like a singing bush Lark, She did not appear like a yellow browed Bulbul She was simply bold and bewitching, Sensational bird! Wonder! Who this Ra-re bird is? A poem on birds makes me a day dreaming bird and if it's poem by a thinker like Dr. Geeta Radhakrishna Menon it makes the reader a thinker.

Well, Geeta, I tried, but I haven't found a picture of a bird as you describe it. But I was amazed as I tried at the color and design and variety in birds. O the beauty that there is in nature! -Glen

Hi Glen, To watch birds is fascinating. Many birds from the same family look different. Sometimes, it is difficult to identify the birds. Thank you Glen!

Thank you, Valsa for reading this birdie poem. I know, now, that you love birds too. I am habituated to bird watching. I love their movements and hugely enjoy their sweet sound. This rare bird which i have written about is not a figment of my imagination. I need to identify it through an expert from BNHS. Till then, it is my rare bird! Thank you so much for your kindness, Valsa. Stay blessed.
