Bingung

Semalam kubaca
Di dada akhbar tertera
Anak Melayu mati ketika bekerja
Di hadapan kedai perabot
Tempatnya mencari sesuap nasi
Dia jatuh
Jarinya menuding ke kepala
Lalu mati
Tanpa kata
Bila sang doktor memeriksa
Nyatalah tempurung kepalanya
Retak menanti belah
Akibat dipukul dengan parah
Tubuh badannya biru dan hitam
Dipenuhi lebam-lebam
Di pukul kawan hingga mati...
Mengapakah harus jadi begini?
Di manakah kasih sayang sesama insani?
Yang kita pupuk sejak anak kecil disusui?
Apakah sudah kita lupa
Akan pekerti mulia
Yang menjadi tonggak manusia berguna?
Apakah yang akan terjadi?
Jika kini kawan membunuh kawan
Anak menyembelih bapa
Bapa merogol nak daranya
Ibu membiarkan anak didera
Aku bingung betul...
Di manakah silapnya?
Aku runsing...
Ke manakah jari harus kutuding?
Aku takut...
Adakah aku mangsa yang berikut?
Jadi...
Apakah yang perlu kita lakukan?
Demi menjaga keamanan insan sejagat
Masih adakah harapan?
Untuk anak-anak bangsa
Memperbaiki diri, menghias peribadi?

Poem of the Day

poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti

A little while a little love
The hour yet bears for thee and me
Who have not drawn the veil to see
If still our heaven be lit above.
Thou merely, at the day's last sigh,
