Billion Souls Poem by Paul Reed

Billion Souls

I am but one of a billion souls
In the sea of life,
Restless and troubled,
Sloping, slanting, cresting the wave's rolls,
That through our existence
Have surged and bubbled;

I am just another, lost in the crowd
A face amongst faces,
In an eternal queue,
No-one hears though I shout loud,
My voice drowned out,
As if you never knew;

Rescue me, just me alone
From the others,
Set me apart,
But I am not known,
I have never been here,
Never got to the start.
