Bill 51 Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Bill 51

Bill 51

Red and white maple leaf
Was torn; hung from tree

I prayed to unseen
“It is far; out of reach.”

Had it been near me
I would be arrested
RCMP could accuse
With Harper’s 51

Better keep my mouth shut
Of the rest I can’t talk
Ottawa has become
A Cairo and Tehran
