'I'm sick and tired of this nonsense'.
'What do you mean 'nonsense. Those are perfectly good bibles. They cost alot'.
(I must admit this last point was speculation on my part)
'That's what I mean'.
'Wait. Have you no faith. Have you no respect for the price of things'? Do you think those are Qu'rans?
'Ha! What is faith'?
'Ah', I said, scratching my head, 'faith is the belief in things unseen. Hey, watch that match'!
'Pernicious, pernicious influence', he insisted, in a way that convinced me I was not going to change his mind.
'Pernicious influence, my......foot. Every word of that book is inspired. Especially Deuteronomy. So put that in your pipe and....
Only too late I realized this was the wrong expression-
'....smoke it'.
'Ah'g'wan', he exclaimed. 'F-ing Republican'.
This was too much.
