Beware Poem by Gillian Commerford

Beware

Whatever lives inside me
lives inside me
like a discontented bird
flapping its wings
against the bars of its cage
in a flurry of feathers
its eyes wild
its beak and claws
razor-sharp.

The sign on the cage says:
Beware!
