Betrayal



My heart conspired with
My spirit to betray me.
In my deepest sadness
It rejoices to my dismay
This I do not understand!

My tears are flowing still
The pain is fresh and deep
But this bespangled glee
This melody, this blitheness
That plays within my soul
Betrays my deepest hurt
This I do not understand
