Best Way To Be Poem by Jo Evans

Best Way To Be

I'm not perfect and I'm over the moon
The greatest thing that's ever happened
Imperfection what else could I wish for
A life of perfection would be a sin
A life of perfection I couldn't handle
A life of perfection belongs in the bin

I'm not perfect and it makes me want to dance
Makes me want to go outside and shout I'm only human
Done with trying to meet and greet if anybody wants to know me
Then equal efforts like myself should they try and make
Have some really amazing friends and I'll always stick by them to the end
Met some really amazing people inspirational and true
Real people with open minds, real people with real minds

I'm not perfect and I don't even want to be
Being perfect is like a knife to the chest
Now that knife is out I am free to shout
No more suffocation of high expectations
This is my life no knife to my throat anymore
No screaming sounds for me to do the right thing
Inside my head time for me to live and breathe instead

A life of perfection would be a sin
A life of perfection I couldn't handle
A life of perfection belongs in the bin
