Best Peaches Poem by gershon hepner

Best Peaches

Best peaches we have ever had
we had when we were very young;
no others can, I say, though sad,
be sweet to tastebuds of our tongue
as those we relished in our youth,
still unaware how quite unique
were tastes acquired then, like truth
we found in youth, and later seek,
attempting to recapture what
we thought we knew when young and bold.
These peaches, like first truths, cannot
be found again when we grow old
and most nostalgically recall
the ones that we had tasted when
we found life just as sweet as all
first truths we cannot find again.
