Below The Sky (Part Ii) Poem by Monica O'Connor

Below The Sky (Part Ii)

November 23,2009

my last gleam of hope just fell below the sky.
i've splattered, mixed into the backdrop
of all the anguished, broken, attention seeking souls
that are these fragile droplets on broken sidewalks.
my foothold slipped, distracted and blinded by the beauty,
that sick twisted beauty.
i've lost my shine, have no smile, no light in my eyes,
and gone are my morals and my reason to breathe.
my last gleam of hope has fallen and i've shattered.
Lackluster are my attempts to shine for you,
be bright for you, i'll do anything,
but i'll still cry for you.
and i do cry; because i can cry.
but it makes me feel so much less than human.
