Being Too Close To You Poem by Claire Jones

Being Too Close To You

Rating: 5.0

Its not healthy
Being too close to someone.
You'll regret it
You get lazy
A few extra pounds
Receeding hair
Not tonight love I have a headache!

Theres no excitement anymore
Being too close to you changed me
I used to be dangerous and fun
Then I got too close.
We accepted each other and that was the first mistake
Too much too soon
Boring routine.

We grew together and were almost like one
We shared our hearts and minds
We shared the same bed
We didn't see it coming
But it was waiting to show us the light.
Being too close to you
It ended up being a curse
When we were apart it hurt.

Then it was over
And I could breathe easy
Knowing you weren't coming back
There was no more pressure
I was suffocating in us
Take it as you will
But it is the truth.

It was the best and the worst
Full of fun and of pain
It was my greatest mistake
Being too close to you.

amen to this, being too close to another takes the edge out of one's self. Alas, I'm feeling such pain now... but she is good and we together are good so, confused i am about my next action.

Being on the losing end is truly painful and your well crafted poem expresses your loss clearly. It is concise, well balanced and flows well. I don't agree with the reasoning though.Getting too close to the person you love and who loves you is hardly possible in my view, but I'd say that getting too close to the wrong person would be a problem! Just a thought. But good poetry. I think you have talent! jim

We tend to lose identity in someone else, so I get exactly what you're saying.Lovely poem. Hope you keep writing! Xs and Os, Colette
