Being Grateful Poem by Paul Sebastian

Being Grateful

I wake, sitting on my bed
Thanking God for gift of a new day
Abundant joys before me He has laid
His unconditional love displayed

Fresh morning air fills my lungs
Garden Jasmine shrub perfume the air
In the trees birds sing their songs
Music soothingly swells like an orchestra
Could this be God's gift of Eden's dawn?

Plaited ribbon-tied hair, uniformed children
Kissed and blessed by grandparents
Sent off to school at the gate by parents
Grandma's wide smile's reverence
Could this be God-extended love?

Heart-warming children's laughter
Reluctant eyes whilst telling stories
Hugs and kisses before sleep matter
Glee for burgers and French-fries
Rhymes awkward words they utter
Could these be God-sent simple joys?

Beautifully colour-mirrored sunset
Fresh food smell from the kitchen
Dinner on table invitingly set
Roses in vase from the garden
Fresh smelling home-made cakes
Could love-filled evening be God's gift?

Fresh clean iron clothes to wear
Colleagues who are always there
Faithful friends who we care
True friendships that we share
Cool starry night, solace bear
Love-filled night ending in prayer
Could this be God's love shared?

Gifts are found treasures of the day
Diamonds to pick, before you they lay
Memories treasure would lifetime last
How abundantly we are blessed!
Could we be ever grateful for His blessings?

How many see these bounties bestowed by God ! Fortunate is the man who has eyes to behold the beauty and joy around and has a grateful heart for the umpteen blessings given by the Almighty! A very sweet poem of thankfulness!
