Before I Find My Smile Poem by Summer Sandercox

Before I Find My Smile

Rating: 5.0

They tell me to let it out,
But I won't let it show,
Ask me to set you free,
But I can't let you go.

They don't seem to understand,
It takes more than a little while,
I need to grieve for you,
Before I find my smile.

It hurts so bad inside,
To endure thoughts of you,
I lost my second brother,
A boy so brave and true.

And my heart is shattered,
Broken beyond repair,
Because I can't breathe,
When I remember you're not there.

Memories of you kill me,
Rip at my soul,
I visit your marble stone,
And more anguish takes its toll.

I cry so hard for you,
Cry myself to sleep,
But tears can't bring you back,
Or soothe this wound so deep.

Nothing can heal this heart,
Words can't change the past,
I'm slipping into the darkness,
Falling really fast.

Searching for you,
But you're nowhere to be found,
Your spirit is gone,
Body buried in the ground.

You don't live anywhere,
No place close to me,
You can't come home,
So in your presence, I can't be.

I can't let you go,
It takes more than a little while,
Because I need to grieve for you,
Before I find my smile.
