Before I Admit... Poem by Lanton Shelby

Before I Admit...

The truth which I have held so close,
Afraid to share for all these years,
This thought I wish I did not bear,
Hides deep inside my makeshift heart,
Scarring, ripping me apart,
I fear the worse may come of this,
If I admit the truth that is,
So I ask of you a single favor,
Promise me that when you hear,
The hidden truth, after all these years,
That you won’t run, won’t go away,
For I’ve promised you, I’m here to stay.
