Before And After Poem by Ananta Madhavan

Before And After

Rating: 5.0

I am sometimes suddenly stunned
By the sheer terror of existence,
Cancelling Before and After.
One is left with the thought
That each one of us,
Aware or caught unawares,
Is left with the disconnected Moment,
Utterly alone.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Some sages advise us to 'live in the present'. We
cannot consciously attune ourselves to the 'Here and Now'
sensation of spirituality. Can we overcome the feeling of
'solitary confinement' as a 'life sentence' by reflection?

I am sometimes suddenly stunned By the sheer terror of existence, Cancelling Before and After.- - - - Deeply philosophical thought. Can we really detach ourselves from the past moment and future concern?

Dear Poet Bharati Nayak, I am deeply touched by your comment on my poem. It makes me feel that it is worthwhile posting my trifles in this website to find a reader with the same mind-set and the empathy to convey it to the writer. May you have success and joy of reading and writing in the coming year too. AM
