Because I Love You Poem by Alexis Weiermann

Because I Love You

As you lay there
On that white bed
I think to myself
'You don't belong here,
You just don't fit in.'

The nurses are running
In and out of the room,
Trying to keep up
With the doctor's orders.
They can't help you,

Because this isn't were you belong.
You belong with me,
In my care.
I can help you,
I can make the pain stop,

I can keep your heart beating,
I can keep you breathing,
I can do anything you need.
You just don't belong
On that white bed,

That is sanitized many times.
The doctor is losing you,
He doesn't know what to do,
He is about to give up,
When I come out of the corner

Of the room.
I push him out of the way,
Grab your hand,
Tell you 'I love you
and that if you go now,

I'll miss you,
Because it isn't your time.
You don't belong here,
And you don't belong
With anyone but me.'

Finally your heart calms down,
Your breathing normally again,
The doctor is in shock,
He didn't love you,
Which is why he couldn't save you.

Only I could save you,
Because I love you.
