Beauty Queen Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Beauty Queen

Cold winter is upon me
And summer's never been,
You left me in the springtime
When I was a beauty queen.

Days are dark and stormy,
With mountains I can't climb.
The promise of your heaven
Crumbled long before its time.

My life goes on without you
But no beauty queen am I,
There is no beauty without love
No sparkle in the eye.

Only misery and sadness
Dwell in this heart today,
My soul is heavy-laden
Now sweet love has gone away.

Glowing cheeks have faded,
And my teardrops always show.
Oh how I long to be a beauty queen,
The one you used to know.
