You were by my side
When the sky was
Tranquil, clear and blue

You were by my side
When the wind blew
Fresh, sweet and silently

But when my towers fell
When my world came crashing down
When I had nothing to offer you
Except friendship


You turned your back on me
The curtain slipped down
You left the stage in such haste
Without a farewell
Without a bow
Such an extraordinary performance

Were those memories part of the plan?
Did I misinterpret your cheery laughter?
When I poured out my heart
Did you really care?

I regret nothing
Because in the end nobody learnt
Unless they stumbled on mistake
A beautiful mistake
