Beast Within

Fiery eyes, seen in the mirror
look at me, hoping to see fear
try to look away, but they're so seductive
look at the canines, see how the blood drips
looked at the floor, saw a corpse
running to the door, stopped for there is a force

I go back to the mirror
and looked for the beast
but all i see is me
streams from my lips
of crimson red blood
i hear a vioce with trembling fear
spotted the grusome victim
he begged and pleaded
for me not to kill him

Confused was i, i let him go
i began to cry, felt alone
soon the anger came, and no more pain
with this feeling im not the same, my humanity is slain
i try to contain, this feeling within
but the anger i retain, becomes my beastly sin

Poem of the Day

poet Charles Stuart Calverley

He stood, a worn-out City clerk —
Who'd toil'd, and seen no holiday,
For forty years from dawn to dark —
Alone beside Caermarthen Bay.
