Battle Scars Poem by Ron Pate

Battle Scars

Rating: 4.5

In a cold dark place, maybe a bar, maybe a hotel room, or even a church pew; battle scars tell the tale of our hearts war and the scars we need to keep hidden from view.   Deep wounds and old scars are very prominent thru time depicting our hearts conquests throughout our lives..

A long tenuous road of heartache, flanked by sporadic bursts of joy and happiness.  All of which almost always is short lived, because our lives are no where near a fairy tale..

When we love; a call to arms is set in play to protect ours hearts.  A game we play, no, just the way we're made.

Blindsided and terribly weak, our heart gets caught off guard and pays the price of complacency, and eventually ends up prisoner to deceit and wanting to believe.

So, when you push thru a blinding storm of emotion, don't forget, your Battle Scars made you who you are......

You write with such passion and it also shows your hurt as well. Our thoughts and pens certainly display our emotions. I wish the best for you Ron that some how some of the hurt you have encountered over your life will subside. I really enjoyed this poem because it speaks to all that we go through in our lifes just to be here day by day. I am not into dark poetry but I chose to comment on pieces that really touch me or that make me reflect on my life as well. This one certainly does. My best J. L.
