Bathtub Poem by nicola burkett

Bathtub

Rating: 5.0

The cold enamel bathtub is an un-usual sanctuary for me
Soaked in a beautiful warm blanket my place of tranquility
At that one moment in time I’m alone I feel free
The bathtub is the only drug that seems enough for me
For an hour or so I’m gone for an hour I disappear
My mind closed to the world there’s nothing I see nothing I hear
As I sit in the bathtub I let go of my deepest darkest fears
The warm water ripples down my cheeks like newborn baby’s tears
The cold enamel bathtub is an un-usual sanctuary for me
Soaked in a beautiful warm blanket my place of tranquility
