Bars Of Sunlight Poem by Steffi Webster

Bars Of Sunlight

Cheery idiom, happy smiling,
Dancing summer, glad tiding

Personal achievement, victory sweet
Life is nought but childish treat

All is well, be satisfied,
Can’t remember when last cried.

Whole aura sunlight pure,
Radiance that all adore

Yet amid this happy scene
There is a taint upon the sheen.

When standing in the sunny glow
There is something all should know

For happy now you cannot be
With stagnant mediocrity.

These apparent rays of sun
Burn and grip you one by one.

Dancing beams tighten hold
Trapping you in bars of gold.

All this world is a façade
Shadows have the freedom marred
