Baobab Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Baobab

I am a man from Ajejule,
And i an now taking a rest under a big baobab tree;
For my life in Lagos has taken its toll,
And i am now like a tired bird in the sun.

I am a vegetarian and i am lonely in the ghetto,
But very quiet and peaceful like the genealogical records of mankind.
One day i will open the door with the golden handles,
One day i will come to you with my sweet love,
But my life in Lagos has taken its toll.
