Bandits' Song Poem by grace mariner

Bandits' Song

The masked marauder paces behind me.
Head down, leathery hands at the ready...
pounce!
I was your human sister.
I wonder if you ever wondered, where is her striped tail?
We chuckled and chortled together every day.
No sibling rivalry my ring tailed friend.
We shared together, licking the cream from our Oreos,
mine dunked in milk, yours in water.
Oh those magic days of our youth together cannot adequately be put into words.
You charmed me you fat, furry egg shaped devil!
I defy anyone who says animals have no spirit, no heart, no capacity for love.
Had you known my sweet Bandit you would know how wrong you are!
