Bamboo Lesson (Tanka) Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Bamboo Lesson (Tanka)

Bamboo trees soar high
Constant growth in absent pride
Rain or sun, it thrives
In Adversity, it bends
In strongest storms, it survives.

'Tanka' is a Japanese short form of poetry,5-7-5-7-7 syllables in five lines, covering any topic but may dwell largely on emotions, unlike the 'haiku' which focus on topics about nature.

I truly enjoy your work. I think the metering factor for most poets has been lost and the world of geniuss poetry has been giving away to either songwriters or journal dwellers. I'm glad to see the rymes and the rythm, thanks.
