Backbone Of A Nation Poem by Joseph T. Renaldi

Backbone Of A Nation

Rating: 5.0

The backbone of the United States
is not the large and boisterous cities,
but all the towns and hamlets far and wide
with people of noble character and serenities.
A town with a peaceful country side around it
where folks live and earn a living who love
a plot of green grass near their cherished homes,
and a bit of an azure sky above.

A lovely poem, I agree that rural America is the backbone of the nation. Unfortunately, from my meager observations, it appears to me that the backbone has grown weak in recent years.
