Baby Raptors Poem by Raymond A Foss

Baby Raptors

Little vultures, circling over their fresh prey
waiting not so patiently, swooping down
and back, because they weren't yet ready
not quite ready to eat yet.
No, the cinnamon rolls and breakfast sausages
weren't quite ready for our baby raptors;
they needed to cool a bit more, made ready
for ravenous predators, eager eaters
with gnashing teeth and licking lips
Mmmm, thanks Mom
for the tasty morsels,
we devoured this morning
