Baby Girl Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Baby Girl

So happy to see the baby girl
we've all been waiting to see
Entering a vacant space within
our hearts… to be loved an eternity

As birthdays set frosted cakes aglow
Everyone is eager to celebrate
especially the mother of the honoree
who years ago was blessed on this date

The fleeting days pass by all too quickly
as mother watches her daughter grow
treasuring each precious moment...
cherishing her child from head to toe

A radiant young woman stands before
her mother in a beautiful wedding gown
At this moment there is a realization...
after marriage… she'll be leaving town

As the wedding cake is sliced into pieces
Everyone congratulates heartily with a toast
With loving joy mother holds back her tears...
Time for her to smile and be an attentive host
