Awareness Campaigns Poem by Irene Bitter

A day of fasting
Will not end world hunger,
Take back the night
Will not undo the crime of rape,
Posing nude on a poster
Will not end animal slaughter,
And coats of skin and fur
Will keep on being made.

The list goes on,
But, here is what I am getting at,
Please, try not to misinterpret
My opinion here,
I do believe raising awareness is important,
But, even more important is to use some common sense,
By all means bring attention, get creative,
However, creativity alone can be quite a waste,
If, it doesn’t bring actual help,
And lacks good taste!
