Awake The Tree Poem by Phil Soar

Awake The Tree

The trees that cast aside their leaves
are now awake again
warmed by sun
and fed by the very nutrients
rotting on the woodland floor
replenishing their previous host
helping to shape its future
refreshing the past
opening the pores
stirring the core
casting a new year ring
marking its age
telling the tale of life
in the woods
