Avalon Poem by John Myles

Avalon

I longed to hold her in my arms
And kiss her lips
For endless hours
Yet I watched her sail away
To dwell among the crystal towers
Of Avalon

We forged an oath
That we would meet
Whenever the moon was full
To dance upon silver tides of light
This misty magic
Willed
in love and passion

Alas each dawn our fate revealed
Our magic done
Our passion stilled
The morning star our parting sorrow
My doom awakened on the morrow
When she returned to Avalon

This secret tryst we made
And kept it for a hundred moons
I carved the tales of them
Upon this tree
in golden alabaster runes
A keep
A treasury
The work of all my days alone

Perhaps you have
Stumbled upon
My
Magic Tale.

Read between the lines,
And work the spell
A night
Lived Oh so well
Loved oh so sweet
Such a night that it could yield
The wonder of two hearts fulfilled
And the agony of their mystic
Passion spilled
Upon encroaching time

Thus
Never will be lost
The Memory.

Yes, stronger magics than ours
Bade us part.
Yet we sought the powers of love
In the lost art of
Passion
In the lotus flower
In mystic endless hours
Dancing within a lovers tune.
And I have saved it all here
Within these runes

If you read,
If you understand,
Should you find within what fails without
Should you turn eye to eye
Soul to soul
And forge this oath
May you, and your lover,
Dance upon silver tides of light
For one hundred moons.
