Autumn Mournings Poem by Kevin Crinks

Autumn Mournings

Autumn days filled with bitter feelings
Leaves falling, icy wind chilling the bones
Shadows cast long upon the walls
Of once busy - now silent - homes

We remember them and feel saddened
That they're gone, no longer there
When once we gazed expectantly into their eyes
Now - in silence - we just stare

What purpose exists for us as we
No longer wait for their returning home
We sit, comfortless, and realise
Now - in silence - what it is to be alone
