Autobiography Poem by Faith Elizabeth Brigham

Autobiography

Rating: 5.0

i admit it-
i wanna be hip
i've been known
to write poems
on paper napkins
in restaurants
when i didn't have
a piece of
scrap paper handy
i've helped
start programs
worked real hard
and got some promotions
i hate rudeness
in others and people
who pretend they're hip
by gossiping

yes, i admit-
i wanna be hip
i detest cruelty
to animals and
don't like
saying goodbye
i have as heroes
evan hunter, bob dylan,
lawrence ferlinghetti,
john irving and
kris kristofferson-
all real hip dudes

i do admit it-
i wanna be hip
i like being called
laid-back
soft-spoken
and a true friend
to the people
in my life
that really matter
that's pretty cool
just maybe a
little bit hip
