Auguries Of Guilt - Mine And Yours Poem by Paddy Scott Hogg

Auguries Of Guilt - Mine And Yours

Rating: 3.0

'To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour'. Blake - Auguries of Innocence

'I sit and count my sins by Chapters'
Reason counts them all in verse
What’s said and done can’t be undone
My fits of folly they do rehearse.
Ebullient blue to morbid grey
So now I drag these feet of clay.

A world of worries to release
No balm of angst's weary blow
From thoughts and words I shouldn’t say
Manic marines go in gung-ho:
Vitriolic barbs so wild and rude
From trivia misunderstood.

What ocean’s calm or flame’s enchant
When peace is lost amid the storm?
The wronged feeling indignant bursts
When plate tectonics shift the norm.
Eruptive heat without a light
A sad and hungry broken night.

“Lover lover lover lover come back to me”
Peels solemn through a lonely room
“My night after night after night after night”
Bows me down amidst the gloom.
“Dark despair around benights me”
Happiness no more invites me.

Very nicely written. Blake's poem is a favorite of mine.
