At The End Of The Road Poem by Shalom Freedman

At The End Of The Road

AT THE END OF THE ROAD

At the end of the road
When there is still so much road ahead
Stumbling to keep going-
A few words here and a few words there-

It does not open up like a dream
It is not wider and wider more all- encompassing circles
Toward Eternity-

The road in oneself
Turns back on itself
Twists and twists
And goes nowhere
For unending stretches –

Nothing can be done
Words must be written –

Another step and another step and another step-
I will continue marching ahead to Nowhere
To the end of my days.
