At Ease In Church Poem by Michael P. Johnson

At Ease In Church

We all have talents great and small –Mt.25: 15
Some gift from God to share
His grace to comfort sheep that fall
And love to show we care

Yet still we sit within our pews
Or seek the seat most high –Lk.20: 46
Content that others spread the news
To those outside who die

Religious stickers don our car
Large bibles in our hand
Content to sit just where we are
Whilst others plough the land

Complacent now in most our ways
We’re arrogant and prude
Well satisfied these latter days –Mt.25: 26
A disobedient brood

So sleek and fat in church we sit –Neh.9: 25-35
At ease on Zion hill –Am.6-
We’re saved, yet fail to do our bit –Jer.5: 28
To do The Father’s will –Deut.32-

We must accept Salvation’s word
Consume His living bread
We need to practice all we’ve heard
Rise up and wake the dead

Now with the truth we need to run!
Or fear God’s Judgement say
“What have you done with Christ my Son?
Since Jesus came that day?

You’ve known the truth, what’s right and wrong
You know life’s not a game
Be gone from me” will be the song –Rev.3: 16
“To hell with all your shame”
