Aspiring Intellect Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Aspiring Intellect

Succumbing to an interior silence, feeling it's quiet
inspiration as it fills me with wonder and awe.

Intellect aspiring to heights of intellectual endeavors,
touched by the fantasies that dreams are made of.

Senses heightened, giving many perceptions that begin
changing interior concepts of the past.

Solemn and persistent ideas fulfilling curiosity of a
lifetime through intellect on a continual basis.

This poem is like a staircase going from what Ezra Pound called NOUS which is Greek for Pure Mind down three steps into the universal sensory where everyone lives. It's very appropriate the word ASPIRATION is in the title because the poem is retracing the steps upward by going downward. This is a way of plotting the journey of the mind, it's not my notions, you can find this progression in many books on Platonism: 1) the silence containing but beyond thought 2) Free sensory reality thoughts not connecting to any reality 3) The intellect and the senses - this is our normal consciousness 4) Ordinary perception But you can also relate this to your prayer life and that might be more comforting for you 1) Heaven: God with the angels and saints 2) a transitional realm 3) your religion with its teachings and charities, services and holy days; your visions and your sanity; the beatitudes and good works 4) Human life in general with the revelations of your faith; missionary work is done in this world. The poem is the bedrock. It a view of human life that promotes the Golden Rule and the Ten Commandments (or Buddihsm and the Four Noble Truths, or Hinduism and the Four Paths to God, etc. Or in my case the Cantos of Ezra Pound.
