As We Slip Into The Dark

Teach me the language of your quasars
or the paroxysms of you moonflowers
as they open into the splintered sky
and the night reborns the dead things you loved

Show me how the trees tremble and
take me to where the earth can speak
just to tell a forlorn tale that is never written
already erased by your burning feet

Give me the box of your florid sighs
and the goblet of your stellar tears
I’ll keep them safe tonight as we dwindle
in silent motions and groaning sleep

As we slip into the dark and morph
into the ebony of the night
whisper sabers and petals in my ears
and in the new dawn, shower me in reverie.
