As The Base of It All

Lonely is the night
With only darkness
Darkness is the foundation now.
The joy which appeared for a while has forever vanished
Now, I am completely alone and will be expressing my sadness only
With no light I am, it is what we can describe as terror
Terror of this life is something which only presents itself
It is horror and screams of suffering which remains
My life is a big joke now and it seems as if everyone simply plays with my feelings
This loneliness matches with lonely night
With only darkness as the base of it all.

poet James Whitcomb Riley

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your doll, I know;
And your tea-set blue,
And your play-house, too,
Are things of the long ago;
