As I Watched You Go Poem by Linda Barnes

As I Watched You Go

Rating: 5.0

As I sat on the couch
Feeling my heart race
Trying to catch my breath
Bracing myself for the pain

Your shadow would move
From room to room
As a breeze trailed
Of fragrance I knew well

Fighting back the depths
Of all that we had shared
Being forced to embrace
Uncertainty without you

Flames engulfed my soul
As my heart turned cold
Blood in my veins soared
To a place of the unknown

Hearing the slamming door
I rushed for one last glimpse
Of my life I use to know
As I watched you go

Uncertainly without you; with the muse of love and pain. Nice work.
