As I Leave Home In The 'Palanquin'... Poem by Arijit Mandal

As I Leave Home In The 'Palanquin'...

My father! I'm leaving home,
The four bearers lift my palanquin.
I'm leaving those who were my own
as I'm going to be my beloved's queen.

Bless me. My father! So that i find a happy world,
and fly like a free dove and my wings unfurled.
You raised me tenderly with love, like a flower,
you used to swing me in your arms and gave me a shower.

You've watched each phase of my life unfold,
Leaving beautiful memories for your heart to hold.
Impressions are still left in my mind,
Cannot be erased by time's wind.

As I write these, I fight back the tears,
As I think back over our years.
And no matter how far I would roam,
My feet would always lead me back home.

So life would go on just the way its supposed to,
I will remember tomorrow when you say to do.
To treasure each day and every moment I share,
May my love would conquer all obstacles that come and stare.

Today I'm a happy and cheerful bride,
As the four bearers lift me in the palanquin.
But tomorrow when I leave this world and die,
Those four bearers would lift me in the coffin..
