As I Close My Eyes
As I close my eyes to sleep
In deep worry I live a life in the day
Day in, day out I make a pledge that will stay
Stay till I meet my creator
Creator of all beings living
Unto whom I owe an everyday prayer
The words of a tender discomforted heart
A silent prayer said in dark
And in silence I say...
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
And if I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take
Amen
Waking every dawn, I see it answered
One prayer I say with my eyes closed
God bless mummy
God bless daddy
All as I close my eyes
