As Aussie As Can Be Poem by Francis Duggan

As Aussie As Can Be

Rating: 5.0

What do they have in common the wombat and kangaroo
The emu and kookaburra the rosella and cockatoo
The lyrebird and echidna the platypus and currawong
The answer to that easy you should not get it wrong.

What do they have in common the gum and pittosporum tree
The magpie and rufous whistler and the bird known as pee wee
The butcherbird and wallaby the eagle known as wedgetail
The black backed pelican the black swan and the buff banded rail.

The aggressise Tassie devil the koala and numbat
The quoll quite fearsome for it's size as big as a domestic cat
The goanna and cassowary the brown and the black snake
the black duck, wood duck and little grebe of river and of lake.

The fairy wren and shrike thrush and the gregarious pale eyed crow
Their connection to each other you surely ought to know
If you don't know the answer I'll say you must be kidding me
For they are all Australians as Aussie as can be.
